As a busy mom, the last thing on Heather’s mind was the possibility of breast cancer. Scheduling her first mammogram when she turned 40 was simply the right thing to do to take care of herself.

After that very first mammogram, when she was diagnosed with cancer, Heather felt utter shock and disbelief.
Heather started chemotherapy just one week after receiving her breast cancer diagnoses. The emotional impact took its toll, and Heather knew she needed help beyond chemo. Her top concerns were her ability to work and making sure her children’s lives weren’t interrupted by her diagnosis.

Heather did miss some work because of her treatment, but because of the financial support from Gateway to Hope, she was able to focus on what was happening in her treatment and “take care of herself instead of worrying about being past due on bills.”
